Image Ultra Music Festival + Miami Art Basel minus all the things you can think of that make both of those events intolerable. Ok, now open your eyes and you'll get a glimpse of III Points festival in Miami. III Points combines the electrifying music acts of Ultra with the fun-loving appeal of Art Basel to put together a weekend of "cutting-edge" "living installation" experiences in Wynwood, Miami's booming arts district.
It's only three years old, but artists like James Murphy, Jamie xx, Hercules & Love Affair, Lykke Li, Thundercat, Four Tet, The Juan MacLean, John Talabot, Duke Dumont, Tiga, Flying Lotus, Sbtrkt, Metronomy, Yacht and Bob Moses (featured in the latest Boy Toy Mixtape) have all appeared one of the III Points stages.
III Points 2015 will take place from October 9 to October 11. This year the lineup includes Nicolas Jaar, Run the Jewels, Bonobo, Aluna George, Toro y Moi, Totally Enormous Extinct Animals, Warpaint, Ghostface Killah and MF Doom. Shockingly enough, tickets are still available. Three-day tickets are only $110, which is about a third of the cost of a Coachella pass.
The festival events take place across several venues, showrooms, sound stages, bars, galleries and even an indoor soccer field in Wynwood. The main acts perform at Soho Studios, a film sound stage warehouse which III Points converts to house Creators Project-style art installations, visual projections and even a makeshift roller skating rink.
ps. The nightlife gurus behind this music, art and tech festival were also responsible for bringing Kendrick Lamar and FKA Twigs to Art Basel.
